Koyo Seiko was founded in 1921 in Nagoya Japan to produce automotive bearings. Toyoda Machine Works was founded in 1941 to produce complete automotive systems. These two leading companies merged to create JTEKT Holding in 2006. Because these two companies were specialized in automotive and automotive equipments and have an extensive and advanced data base on bearings which is one of the key elements in automotive industry. JTEKT Holding produces high quality bearing and bearing equipments under Koyo brand.

Koyo also specializes in steel industry and have a very large OEM business in the sector. Koyo works on mutual projects with leading companies like SMS Meer and SMS Simag. In that sense Koyo not only produces bearings but also produces complete rolling mills, back up rolling mills and also produces large drive shafts for gearbox rolling mill connections.

In 2009 JTEKT Holding bought Torrington, the needle rolling mill department of Timken Company. Torringtom became a sub department of Koyo. Torrington and Koyo merged all their properties, both physical and intellectual, to create one of the strongest needle roller bearing producers in the world. Koyo company will be producing needle rolling bearings under “Koyo Torrington” brand.

Head quarters of Koyo is in Osaka, Japan. Koyo can produce a very wide range of products from ultra large bearings with diameters up to seven meters to miniature bearings with 1mm inner diameters. Apart from main stream bearings Koyo can design and produce hybrid or complete ceramic bearings that are needed in harsh environments of modern industry.
